PREVENT HEAD LICE EPIDEMIC IN SUFFOLK COUNTY CLASSROOMS

Head Checks Before the Start of School Can Prevent A Repeat of Last Year’s Epidemic

Meticulice would like to help prevent head lice from being brought into the classrooms by offeringFREE head screenings at their East Setauket location. Screenings will be provided on a first come, first served basis for people who are facebook fans of Meticulice. The free screenings will be held at the Meticulice office located at 196 Belle Meade Road, Suite 7A , East Setauket, NY 11793 on Thursday, August 30th from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Hair should be clean, dry, and free of product and knots. If head lice is detected, head lice removal services will be scheduled as soon as possible.

Last year there was a head lice epidemic in Suffolk County at the beginning of the school year.  Since most cases of head lice are contracted from head-to-head contact, settings where children are close to one another are breeding grounds. Children spend a lot of time in these settings over the summer from camp, vacations, sleep overs to just sitting on the couch next to one another playing video games.

Elissa Rand attended training at the Shepherd Institute and has been certified in the Shepherd Method of head lice removal which is considered the safest and most effective removal method. Elissa has trained her staff in the Shepherd method which uses natural oils and a comprehensive three step strand by strand process.
